Chances are, tomorrow (Saturday) is a big day for those who work during the week with aspirations on the side. You give your job 40 hours of your week. Your weekends are dedicated to your ventures. Those meetings are just as important as meetings at work. How do let people know that you’re running behind? Maybe it was the kids. Maybe you’re tired. So many things can happen or come up.

University of North Carolina business professor Alison Fragale has made a study of delivering bad news. We asked her to critique three different “I’m running late” messages for important conversations with the boss, a subordinate or an investor.
