Millions of Kenyans send cash through an SMS network called Safaricom. Kenyan has a population of 43 million people. Of that, 19 million are subscribed to this network. The network allows them to do everything from paying electricity bills to school fees, thanks to a simple text-based menu that is accessible on even the most basic mobile phone.
